Dear Parents/Guardians

A warm welcome to all parents of children in Class One!

Here are the topics that we will be covering over the year:-

Autumn –Fighting Fit / Journey to Antarctica

Spring – Oceans and Seas / The Vikings

Summer – Going Wild / Dinosaurs

If you have any books or artefacts related to our first topic then you are more than welcome to bring them in for the class to share.

Homework

Your child will receive spellings and LBH (learn by heart – numeracy) each week.

Spellings will be given and tested on a Tuesday.

LBH will be given and tested on a Wednesday.

Individual reading is up and running and I would encourage you to listen and share their reading book as often as possible. Please use the reading record as a way of recoding progress and communicating with school.

Each week your child will receive Guided Reading homework. They will take the book that they have read at school together with some questions and prompts. Please help your child answer the questions in the book provided. This will be alternated with a different activity related to the book.
